I am currently the Deputy District Attorney of the Second Judicial District Attorney’s Metropolitan Division. Of the 22,000 annual case referrals to our district more than 75 percent come through my office. It is common for attorneys in my division to carry a caseload of 400+ cases at any given time.

My experience working as a criminal defense attorney prior to becoming a prosecutor and a Deputy District Attorney has given me the unique ability to understand and work with both sides of the courtroom.  That experience has enabled me to be a leader in bringing the opposing sides together to work on creating a more fair and equitable system for all.

I moved to Albuquerque 25 years ago as a young man uncertain of my life’s calling. I was born into extreme poverty and ended up in an orphanage. I was adopted by a wonderful family whose love and support helped to shape my future. My journey has led me to a place where I can make a positive difference in the lives of all who live in my community. I have been fortunate to experience and now embrace all things New Mexican.

We truly live in the Land of Enchantment. My journey has led me to a place with such opportunities that are rarely, if ever, conceivable for a young child of color living with such humble beginnings. My life as a proud citizen of Albuquerque and New Mexico has enabled me to discover so many opportunities to pursue what has become my purpose and my passion: to make Albuquerque a safe place for all.

With your support, I promise to do everything that I can to make Albuquerque the safe and enchanted city it can and must become.
